Why repair a DualSense instead of replacing it?
Most DualSense faults come down to one worn part: a thumbstick module, a trigger mechanism, a button contact or the charging port. Replacing that part brings the controller back to full working order, and it keeps a perfectly good controller out of the bin.
Every controller repair comes with a free diagnosis, a fixed price and our 24-month warranty. Console playing up as well? See our PS5 repair page.
DualSense faults we fix
| Fault | What's happening | Our fix |
|---|---|---|
| Stick drift | The worn thumbstick module sends movement when you're not touching it | Fit a new thumbstick module and recalibrate |
| Weak or stuck adaptive triggers | The trigger motor or gears inside have failed | Repair or replace the trigger mechanism |
| Unresponsive or sticky buttons | Worn contacts or debris under the buttons | Clean or replace the button contacts |
| Won't charge | A worn USB-C port or a failing battery | Replace the charging port or the battery |
| Battery drains fast | An ageing internal battery | Fit a new battery |
| Touchpad, speaker or haptics faulty | A damaged ribbon cable or component | Replace the faulty part and test every feature |
Quick fixes to try before booking
- Reset the controllerThere's a small reset button inside a hole on the back, near the L2 trigger. Press it with a pin for about five seconds, then reconnect with a USB cable.
- Update its softwareOn the PS5, go to Settings, then Accessories, then Controllers, and update the wireless controller device software.
- Use a data cableSome USB-C cables only charge. If the controller won't pair over a cable, try the one that came with your PS5.
- Widen the dead zone for nowIf drift is slight, a bigger dead zone in the game's settings can help for a while, but worn modules only get worse.
DualSense Edge repairs
The DualSense Edge lets you swap its thumbstick modules yourself, and Sony sells replacements, so stick drift on an Edge is often an easy fix at home. Other faults, such as the triggers, buttons, charging port or battery, still mean opening the controller up, and those are the Edge repairs we carry out.

PS5 controller repair FAQs
How much does PS5 controller repair cost?
It depends on the fault, and it's usually well below the price of a new DualSense. You'll get a fixed quote before we start.
Can you fix DualSense stick drift?
Yes. We replace the worn thumbstick module and recalibrate it, which fixes drift properly rather than hiding it with a dead zone.
Can you repair the adaptive triggers?
Yes. If a trigger has lost its resistance or clicks, we repair or replace the trigger mechanism and test the effect in a game.
My controller won't charge. Is it the battery?
Not always. It's often the USB-C port, so we test the port, the cable and the battery before replacing anything.
Do you repair DualSense Edge controllers?
Yes, including triggers, buttons, the charging port and the battery. The Edge's stick modules are user-replaceable, so we'll tell you if that's the simpler fix.
Do you collect controllers?
Yes. We collect controllers free from anywhere in Greater Manchester, on their own or together with your console.
