Find your model

Not Sure Which Android Phone You Have?

You are not expected to memorise a model number. Android manufacturers release a large number of phones, and names can be confusing when several versions look almost identical from the outside.

If the phone is working:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Look for About phone, About device or a similarly named section.
  3. Find the model name and, if shown, the model number.

If the screen is too damaged to use, check the original box, purchase information or any device details available through your account. You can also send us a clear photograph of the phone and any model information you can find.

Even if all you can tell us is “Samsung Galaxy” or “Motorola”, get in touch. We would rather help identify the device properly than guess and quote you for the wrong repair.

Why the model matters

Why We Ask for the Exact Android Model

With Android phones, a small difference in the model name can make a large difference to the repair.

Two handsets from the same family can look almost identical while using different display assemblies, batteries, charging components or internal layouts. There can also be separate 4G and 5G versions of a model, regional variants and different generations sold under very similar names.

The exact model can affect:

  • The replacement screen.Android phones use LCD, OLED and AMOLED displays in many different shapes and configurations.
  • The fingerprint system.Some sensors are built into or work through the display, while others are located in a side button or on the rear of the phone.
  • The charging assembly.The fact that two phones both use USB-C does not mean the internal charging components are interchangeable.
  • The battery.Capacity, connector position, physical dimensions and battery management can vary even within the same product family.
  • The repair method.A conventional flat handset, a curved-screen flagship and a foldable phone all present very different repair requirements.
  • Part availability and price.A common Samsung or Pixel component may be easier to source than a part for an uncommon or older Android model.

Confirming the device first saves time and reduces the chance of the wrong part being ordered. It also means the quote you receive is based on your actual phone rather than a generic “Android repair” price that may have little relevance to it.

Symptoms

What Is Your Android Phone Doing?

You do not need to know the name of the failed component. Choose the symptoms that sound closest to what you are experiencing and follow the relevant repair information.

Screen or Touch Problems

Cracked glass, black display, green or coloured lines, flickering, dead pixels, ghost touches or parts of the screen no longer responding.

Screen replacement · Display faults · Touchscreen faults

Battery or Power Problems

Battery draining unusually quickly, sudden shutdowns, percentage jumping, excessive heat, swelling or a phone that refuses to switch on.

Battery replacement · Phone not turning on · Overheating

USB-C or Charging Problems

Cable feels loose, charging cuts in and out, the phone only charges at an angle, fast charging has stopped or the USB connection is not recognised.

Charging port repair

Camera, Sound or Button Problems

Camera will not focus, lens is damaged, speaker sounds distorted, microphone cuts out or the power and volume buttons no longer respond normally.

Camera repair · Speaker repair · Microphone repair · Button repair

Software, Freezing or Restarting

Phone is stuck on the manufacturer logo, repeatedly restarts, freezes during use or started behaving incorrectly after a failed or interrupted software update.

Android software repair · Boot loop repair

Signal, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth Problems

No mobile signal, SIM not detected, mobile data failing, Wi-Fi disconnecting or Bluetooth no longer pairing reliably with accessories.

SIM and network faults · Wi-Fi and Bluetooth faults

Water, Moisture or Heat

Phone has been dropped in liquid, displays a moisture warning, has developed condensation or becomes abnormally hot during charging or normal use.

Liquid damage repair · Overheating diagnosis

If your symptoms fit more than one category, that is not unusual. A phone that will not turn on could have a battery, display, charging, liquid-damage or internal power fault. Tell us exactly what happened and what the phone does now rather than choosing a repair yourself.

Screens

Android Screen and Display Repairs

A cracked Android screen can be anything from a small cosmetic break in the glass to complete failure of the display underneath. If you can still see the picture clearly and use touch normally, the damage is very different from a phone showing black areas, coloured lines, flashing, ink-like marks or no image at all.

Modern Android displays also vary considerably between devices. Some phones use LCD panels, while many mid-range and flagship models use OLED or AMOLED displays. There are flat panels, curved-edge displays and foldable screens, and some phones place the fingerprint reader beneath the display itself.

On many devices the glass, touch layer and display are supplied as part of a complete assembly. That is why the correct repair cannot be determined solely by how large the crack looks from the outside.

When assessing a damaged Android screen, it is useful to know:

  • whether the phone still displays an image;
  • whether touch works across the whole screen;
  • whether there are lines, flashes or black areas;
  • whether the frame has been bent or damaged in the same impact;
  • whether the fingerprint reader still works;
  • and whether the display is beginning to lift away from the body of the phone.

A lifting display deserves particular attention because the cause may not be the screen itself. A swollen battery underneath can push the display away from the frame. If you suspect battery swelling, stop charging the phone and tell us when you contact us.

For more detail, see our phone screen repair and replacement service.

Batteries

Android Battery and Power Problems

Battery deterioration is gradual, which means people often adapt to it without realising how much the phone's behaviour has changed. Charging once a day becomes twice a day, then the phone starts dropping rapidly below 20%, switching off unexpectedly or struggling under heavier use.

A replacement battery can make good financial sense when the rest of the phone is still doing everything you need. But poor battery life does not always mean the battery itself is faulty.

Heavy background activity, a software problem, poor mobile signal, a charging fault or excessive heat can all increase power consumption. That is why the symptoms matter.

If the battery is swollen

If the rear cover or screen is being pushed away from the phone, the handset feels distorted or you suspect the battery has expanded, stop charging and using it. Do not push the display back down or try to puncture or remove the battery yourself.

Tell us that you suspect swelling when requesting a battery replacement so the condition of the device can be taken into account from the beginning.

Charging

USB-C and Fast-Charging Faults

Most current Android phones use USB-C, but that does not make every charging problem a USB-C port replacement.

A phone that has stopped fast charging could have a worn or contaminated connector, but the cause could also be the cable, charger, battery, moisture detection, software or another part of the charging circuit.

Before arranging a repair, try a compatible cable and charger that you know work correctly with another device. Look inside the charging port for obvious debris, but do not dig into it with a pin, needle or other metal object; the contacts inside are small and easily damaged.

If the plug no longer seats properly, charging cuts in and out when the cable moves, the phone only charges at a particular angle or the connector has visible damage, see our phone charging port repair page.

Wireless charging works but the cable does not? That is useful diagnostic information. Tell us. It helps narrow the fault towards the wired charging path, although further checks may still be needed before deciding which component is responsible.

Software

Android Software, Boot and Connectivity Faults

Not every Android problem requires a replacement part.

A phone may freeze, restart repeatedly, remain stuck on the Samsung, Google, Motorola or other manufacturer logo, fail after an update or suddenly refuse to connect reliably to Wi-Fi or mobile networks.

These faults can be frustrating because software and hardware symptoms often overlap. A phone stuck in a restart loop could have corrupted system software, but unstable power from a failing battery or another hardware problem can produce similar behaviour.

If the data on the phone matters to you, avoid jumping straight to a factory reset simply because an online guide recommends one. A reset erases user data and may not solve a hardware-related fault anyway.

Tell us whether the problem began after:

  • a system or security update;
  • the phone running completely flat;
  • a drop or impact;
  • liquid exposure;
  • installing or removing an app;
  • or no obvious event at all.

For devices that cannot start normally, see our Android boot loop and stuck-on-logo repair information. For wider operating-system problems, visit phone software repair and OS restore.

Foldables

Foldable Android Phone Repairs

Foldable phones need to be treated as their own category rather than as ordinary smartphones with an extra hinge.

Devices such as Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones, Motorola Razr models and Google foldables can contain an outer display, flexible inner display, hinge mechanism and flex components that move whenever the phone is opened or closed.

Damage can therefore present in several different ways:

  • inner display no longer showing an image;
  • lines or black areas appearing around the fold;
  • touch failing on one part of the flexible screen;
  • outer screen damaged while the inner screen still works;
  • phone no longer opening or closing normally;
  • hinge damage after a drop;
  • or a lifting or damaged inner screen protector.

If a factory-applied protector on a foldable display starts lifting or bubbling, avoid peeling it away until you have checked what is appropriate for that exact model. Flexible displays are much easier to damage than conventional phone glass.

Foldable repair options and part availability vary considerably, so send us the exact model and photographs of the damage where possible. You can also visit our Samsung Galaxy repair, Motorola repair or Google Pixel repair pages for manufacturer-specific information.

Brands

Android Brands We Repair in Manchester

The Android market is much broader than Samsung and Google. We work with phones across established flagship ranges, mid-range devices, budget handsets and less common models. The exact repair available will always depend on the device and replacement-part availability.

Samsung Galaxy Repairs

Samsung's range covers everything from everyday Galaxy A-series phones to S-series flagships and Z Fold/Z Flip devices. Because the range is so broad, identifying the exact Galaxy model is particularly important before quoting for displays, batteries and charging components.

Google Pixel Repairs

We repair supported Google Pixel phones with faults involving displays, batteries, charging, cameras, power and other hardware or software problems. If your Pixel still works, the exact model can normally be found under the device information in Settings.

Motorola Repairs

Motorola now covers several very different types of Android phone, from Moto G and Edge handsets to Razr foldables. The repair route can therefore vary significantly even within the Motorola name.

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO Repairs

Xiaomi devices are sold under several closely related ranges and sub-brands. If you own a Redmi or POCO, include the full model name rather than simply describing it as a Xiaomi so we can check the correct part.

OnePlus, OPPO and Vivo

These manufacturers produce everything from affordable Android handsets to high-specification devices with advanced displays and charging systems. We can check repair options from the exact model and fault rather than assuming the same components are used throughout a brand.

Honor and Huawei

Honor and Huawei need to be treated separately on newer devices even though there is historical overlap between the brands. Give us the exact manufacturer and model when requesting parts or a repair quote.

Sony Xperia and Nokia

We can also check repairs for Xperia and Nokia/HMD devices, including older handsets where parts remain available. With less common models it is particularly worthwhile contacting us before arranging the repair so availability can be checked first.

Tecno and Infinix

We support selected Tecno and Infinix phones too. These brands have expanded rapidly and model ranges can differ between markets, so providing the full device name or model number is the quickest route to a useful answer.

Other brands

What if My Android Brand Is Not Listed?

A missing brand name does not necessarily mean we cannot help.

There are hundreds of Android devices in circulation, including Realme, Asus and other less common manufacturers, and creating a separate page for every handset would not make this website more useful.

Instead, send us:

  • the manufacturer's name;
  • the exact model if you can find it;
  • what has gone wrong;
  • and, where physical damage is involved, a clear photograph.

We can then check whether the repair is practical and whether the required component can be sourced. If we cannot provide a sensible repair for a particular device, it is better for you to know that before spending time arranging a handover.

Repair or replace?

Is Your Android Phone Worth Repairing?

Android phones range from inexpensive entry-level devices to foldables and flagship handsets costing well over the price of many laptops. Whether a repair makes financial sense therefore depends on much more than the name of the fault.

A repair may make good sense when:

  • the phone is otherwise in good condition;
  • there is one clear fault;
  • you are happy with its performance;
  • the repair costs substantially less than a suitable replacement;
  • or keeping the existing phone avoids the hassle of transferring accounts, apps and data.

Replacement may deserve consideration when:

  • the phone has several expensive faults at once;
  • the frame or internal structure is badly damaged;
  • there is extensive liquid damage;
  • the repair cost approaches the value of a suitable replacement;
  • or the phone no longer supports the apps, security updates or features you need.

There is no benefit in convincing you to spend heavily on a phone that no longer makes sense to keep. If you are unsure, tell us the device and its condition and we can help you weigh the repair against replacing it.

Call-out or workshop

Call-Out or Workshop Android Repair?

How the repair is carried out depends on what your Android phone needs rather than simply which logo is on the back.

Some straightforward repairs may be suitable for our mobile service. Others need more detailed diagnostics, specialist equipment or additional testing and are better completed in a workshop environment.

We can discuss the likely route once we know the model, fault and your location. For the full explanation, see our call-out phone repair Manchester page.

If you want to know exactly what happens from the first enquiry through to testing and handover, read how our phone repair service works.

What We Need for an Accurate Android Repair Quote

You can save several messages back and forth by giving us the most useful information at the beginning.

  1. BrandSamsung, Google, Motorola, Xiaomi, OnePlus or whichever manufacturer made the phone.
  2. Exact modelInclude the full model name or number where possible, particularly if there are 4G/5G or Pro/Plus variants.
  3. SymptomsTell us what the phone actually does rather than guessing which component is faulty.
  4. What happenedMention drops, water, previous repairs, overheating or anything that happened before the fault appeared.
  5. Your postcodeThis allows us to discuss the relevant Manchester call-out, collection or handover options.

A photograph is also helpful when the problem is visible—for example a cracked display, damaged frame, lifted back cover or broken camera lens.

Questions & answers

Android Phone Repair FAQs

How can I find the exact model of my Android phone?

If the phone still works, open Settings and look for About phone, About device or a similar menu. The model name and often the model number should be shown there.

If you cannot use the screen, look at the original packaging, purchase information or device details connected with your account. You can also send us photographs and any information you can find and we will help narrow it down.

Can you repair my Android phone if I do not know which model it is?

We can still start the conversation. Tell us the brand if you know it and send a clear photograph of the front and back of the phone. Any information from the original box or purchase record can also help.

We may need to identify the exact model before giving a final quote because visually similar Android phones can use different replacement parts.

Can an Android screen be replaced if the fingerprint reader is under the display?

In many cases, yes, but the exact repair needs to be checked for the model involved. In-display fingerprint systems interact with the display differently from rear or side-mounted sensors, and replacement-screen compatibility or calibration requirements can vary.

Tell us the exact model and whether the fingerprint reader was working before the screen was damaged so that this can be considered when discussing the repair.

Why has fast charging stopped working on my Android phone?

Fast charging relies on more than the charging port. The phone, charger and cable all need to communicate correctly, and charging speed can also be reduced by battery condition, temperature, debris, moisture warnings, software or a hardware fault.

Try a compatible charger and cable known to work correctly before assuming the USB-C port has failed. If charging remains slow or intermittent, we can investigate further through our charging repair service.

Can you repair older Android phones?

Often, yes. Age by itself does not make a phone unrepairable. The main questions are whether the required part can still be sourced and whether the repair makes financial sense for the condition and value of the device.

An older phone that only needs a battery or straightforward component may be well worth keeping. If several expensive faults have developed at once, replacement may be the better decision. Send us the exact model and we can check.

Do you repair foldable Android phones?

We can assess selected foldable models, including devices from Samsung, Motorola and Google. Repair options depend heavily on whether the problem involves the outer display, flexible inner display, hinge, frame or another component, as well as the availability of the correct part.

Send us the exact foldable model and photographs of the damage before arranging a repair wherever possible.

Will repairing my Android phone delete my data?

A normal physical repair such as replacing a screen or battery does not automatically require the information stored on your phone to be erased. Software repairs, storage problems and certain more complicated faults can be different.

We recommend making a current backup whenever the phone is still usable enough to do so. If preserving the data is particularly important, tell us before work begins so that can be taken into account when discussing the repair route.

For more information about data, passcodes and preparing a phone for repair, see our phone repair FAQs.
