Which iPhone 18 do you have?
Apple has split its 2026 launch in two. The Pro models arrived in September, the iPhone Duo foldable follows in October, and the standard iPhone 18 is expected in spring 2027. To check yours, open Settings, then General, then About, and look at Model Name.
| Model | Screen | Battery | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 18 Pro | 6.3-inch | 4,288mAh (eSIM) or 4,056mAh (SIM tray) | On sale since 18 September 2026 |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | 6.9-inch | 5,567mAh (eSIM model) | On sale since 18 September 2026 |
| iPhone Duo | 7.6-inch folding inner screen | Not yet confirmed | UK release 23 October 2026 |
| iPhone 18, 18e and Air 2 | Not yet announced | Not yet announced | Expected spring 2027 |
Both Pro models come in Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy, with back glass colour-matched to the frame. Phones with a SIM tray have a slightly smaller battery than eSIM-only models.
iPhone 18 Pro screen replacement in Manchester
Both models use a flat OLED screen with a thin plastic frame bonded around it, and that frame is part of the display assembly. It's fragile: in iFixit's teardown, it cracked or pulled away in three of the four phones they opened, so an iPhone 18 Pro screen replacement needs patient, careful work.
There's a new detail to get right, too. The infrared camera behind Face ID now looks through a specially arranged patch of pixels near the top of the screen, so the replacement has to be made for your model. If Face ID itself develops a fault, see our Face ID repair service, and for every other model, our guide to iPhone screen repair.
Front screen
Cracks, lines and touch faults all mean a new display assembly. Once it's fitted, we test Face ID, touch, colour and brightness before handing your iPhone back.
- Cracked glass or black ink spreading from a crack
- Green or white lines across the display
- Touch that ignores part of the screen
Back glass
The iPhone 18 Pro's back glass is its own panel, and the wireless charging coil is built into it, so we test MagSafe charging after replacing it.
- Cracked or shattered rear glass
- Wireless charging that has stopped working
- Sharp edges around the camera plateau
iPhone 18 Pro battery replacement
Open Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health to see how yours is doing. As well as the health rating and maximum capacity, recent iPhones show the cycle count, the date the battery was made and the date it was first used.
Apple designs recent iPhone batteries to keep 80% of their original capacity after 1,000 full charge cycles, so most iPhone 18 Pro owners won't need a new one for a few years.
When the time comes, the job is cleaner than on older iPhones: the battery sits in a screwed-in metal tray rather than on stretchy adhesive strips. It still comes out through the front, though, so the screen is lifted carefully first. Here's how our phone battery replacement service works.
Six things that make iPhone 18 Pro repairs different
Face ID has moved under the screen
The infrared camera Face ID uses now sits beneath the display, near the top corner, while the dot projector stays in the smaller Dynamic Island.
Why it matters for a repairThe screen and Face ID are more closely linked than ever, so every screen repair ends with a Face ID test, and sensor faults are diagnosed before anything is replaced.
A back panel that comes off on its own
The rear glass lifts away separately, and the only part inside it is the wireless charging coil.
Why it matters for a repairBack glass replacement is quicker and lower-risk than on older iPhones, where the rear glass was fused to the frame.
Six blades inside the main camera
The new variable aperture uses six blades, each about as thin as a human hair.
Why it matters for a repairThey can't be fixed one by one, so a damaged main camera is replaced as a whole module. A cracked lens cover is a far smaller job, so get it seen before dust gets in.
A USB-C port buried deep
The charging port connects through a long flex cable that runs along the side of the phone.
Why it matters for a repairReplacing the port means more dismantling than its size suggests, so we always clean and test it first. Pocket lint is often the real culprit.
Two battery sizes
Phones with a physical SIM tray carry a smaller battery than eSIM-only models: 4,056mAh against 4,288mAh on the iPhone 18 Pro.
Why it matters for a repairLet us know whether your phone has a SIM tray, so we order the correct battery for your exact model.
Storage sits inside the logic board
The iPhone 18 Pro's storage chip is sandwiched inside its dual-layer logic board.
Why it matters for a repairRecovering data from a badly damaged board is harder than on older iPhones, so keep iCloud or computer backups switched on.

iPhone 18 repair FAQs
How much does an iPhone 18 Pro screen replacement cost in Manchester?
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max have some of the most expensive screens of any phone, and the Pro Max's larger display costs more again. Tell us your model and what's happened for a free quote. The price is agreed before any work starts, and we'll explain exactly which screen we'll fit.
Will Face ID still work after an iPhone 18 Pro screen replacement?
It should, as long as the replacement is made for your model, because Face ID's infrared camera now looks through a special area of the screen. We test Face ID before handing your iPhone back, and if the sensor has a separate fault, we'll diagnose it before recommending anything.
Can you replace the back glass on an iPhone 18 Pro?
Yes. The back glass is its own panel with the wireless charging coil built in, so it can be replaced without dismantling the whole phone. We test wireless charging afterwards.
Will my iPhone show a message after a repair?
It might. iPhones list replaced parts under Settings, then General, then About, in Parts and Service History, and parts that aren't genuine Apple parts are marked there. We'll tell you exactly which part we're fitting before we start, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Is my iPhone 18 Pro still under Apple's warranty?
Yes. Every iPhone 18 Pro went on sale in September 2026, so all are within Apple's one-year warranty for manufacturing faults. Accidental damage, like a cracked screen or a dunk in water, isn't covered unless you have AppleCare+, and that's where we can help.
Do you repair the iPhone Duo?
Apple's first foldable iPhone reaches UK customers on 23 October 2026. Parts for any brand-new foldable take time to reach independent repairers, so get in touch with the fault and we'll confirm what we can do and when.
When will you repair the standard iPhone 18?
Apple is expected to launch the standard iPhone 18, along with the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2, in spring 2027. We'll add them here once they're released, and in the meantime we repair earlier iPhones too.
