Local iPad repair, collected from your door
iPads get dropped, stood on and passed around, so cracked glass is one of the most common iPad repairs, followed by worn batteries and charging ports that no longer grip the cable. Our Manchester technicians have been fixing iPads since 2016, alongside phones, laptops and other devices.
Every repair starts with a free diagnosis and a fixed price agreed before we begin. We collect your iPad from your home, school or workplace anywhere in Greater Manchester and return it once it's repaired and tested, and every job is covered by our 24-month warranty and No Fix, No Fee promise.

iPad screen repair: what your model needs
How a cracked iPad screen is fixed depends on how the screen is built, and that varies across the four iPad families.
| Model | How the screen is built | Usual repair for a crack |
|---|---|---|
| iPad, including the iPad (A16) | Touch glass and LCD display as separate layers | New glass only, if the picture underneath is undamaged |
| iPad mini, 5th generation onwards | Glass bonded to the LCD | A complete laminated screen assembly |
| iPad Air, 3rd generation onwards | Glass bonded to the LCD | A complete laminated screen assembly |
| iPad Pro, up to the M2 models | Laminated LCD, or mini-LED on the 12.9-inch 5th and 6th generations | A complete screen assembly |
| iPad Pro with M4 or M5 | Tandem OLED, bonded to the glass | A complete OLED screen, the most expensive iPad screen to replace |
Not sure which you have? The model name is in Settings, then General, then About. If the screen is too damaged to read, the model number, starting with A, is printed on the back.
How to tell what's damaged on your iPad screen
- A clear picture under the cracks
- If the image is sharp and touch works everywhere, only the glass is damaged. On a standard iPad, that usually means the cheaper glass-only repair.
- Lines, patches or a black screen
- Coloured lines, dark blotches or no picture at all mean the display underneath is damaged as well, so it needs replacing too.
- Touch that misbehaves
- Areas that ignore your finger, or an iPad that opens apps on its own, point to damaged touch glass.
- A bent corner
- If the metal around the crack is dented, mention it when you ask for a quote, because a new screen needs a straight frame to sit in.
Why iPad owners choose a local repair
Apple does repair iPad screens, but its cracked-screen fee only applies to iPad models launched after 1 May 2024, and only when there's no other damage. Older iPads, or iPads with other damage, are charged a different fee, and Apple's service may replace your iPad rather than repair it.
If your iPad is brand new
If it's covered by AppleCare, check Apple's price first. We'll tell you honestly if that's the better option for you.
For every other iPad
We repair the iPad you already have, whatever its age, and return it with your apps, photos and settings exactly where you left them.

iPad battery replacement in Manchester
An iPad battery wears gradually, so it's easy to miss until the iPad needs charging twice a day or switches off at 20%. On recent iPads, you can check its condition under Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health, which shows the maximum capacity and cycle count.
Replacing an iPad battery is delicate work, because on most models the battery sits behind the screen, held in with strong adhesive. We lift the display carefully, fit the new battery and test charging before your iPad comes back.
If the screen has started lifting away from the frame, the battery may be swelling. Stop charging it and get in touch, and we'll collect it safely.
iPad won't charge? Try these first
Plenty of charging faults turn out to be the cable, the adapter or lint packed into the port.
- Swap the cable and adapterTry a cable and adapter you know work with another device. Frayed cables are a very common culprit.
- Look inside the portShine a torch into the port. If you can see fluff or grit, don't dig at it with anything metal, because we can clean it safely.
- Force restart itWithout a home button, press and release the volume button nearest the top button, then the other volume button, then hold the top button until the Apple logo appears. With a home button, hold the home and top buttons together.
- Know your connectorThe iPad 10th generation, iPad Air 4th generation, iPad mini 6th generation and iPad Pro models from 2018 onwards use USB-C. Older iPads use Lightning.

iPad repair FAQs
How much does iPad screen repair cost in Manchester?
It depends on the model. A glass-only repair on a standard iPad costs far less than a complete screen for an iPad Air, and the OLED screens on the latest iPad Pro are the most expensive of all. Send us your model for a free, fixed quote.
Can you replace just the glass on my iPad?
On the standard iPad, yes, as long as the display underneath still shows a normal picture. On the iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad Pro, the glass is bonded to the display, so the whole screen is replaced.
How long does an iPad repair take?
Many iPad screen and battery repairs are completed the same day when we have the part. On some models the adhesive needs time to set, and we'll give you a timescale when we quote.
Will I lose my photos and apps?
No. A screen, battery or charging repair doesn't touch what's stored on your iPad. We'd still recommend an iCloud backup beforehand if the iPad works well enough.
Does Touch ID still work after a home button repair?
Touch ID is paired to your iPad's original home button, so we reuse it wherever it's undamaged. A replacement button restores the click, but it can't restore Touch ID.
Can you fix an iPad that won't charge?
Usually. We start by testing your cable and adapter, then clean or replace the Lightning or USB-C port if that's the cause.
Is it worth repairing an older iPad?
Often, yes, especially if it still runs the apps you use. A new screen or battery costs far less than a new iPad, and we'll tell you honestly if yours isn't worth fixing.
Should I go to Apple instead?
If your iPad is new and covered by AppleCare, check Apple's fee first. For older iPads, or ones with damage beyond the screen, a local repair is usually quicker and keeps your own iPad in use.
Do you repair iPads for schools and businesses?
Yes. We can collect several iPads from one address anywhere in Greater Manchester and give you a single quote covering them all.
Do you collect iPads for repair?
Yes, free, from anywhere in Greater Manchester. We collect from your home, school or workplace and bring your iPad back once it's repaired.
