|---|---|---|
| No picture on the TV | A damaged HDMI port, often from a cable pulled at an angle | Replace the HDMI port and test the video signal |
| Overheating or a loud fan | Dust build-up and dried-out thermal paste | Deep clean, renew the thermal compound and check the fan |
| Won't turn on | A failed power supply or a power fault on the board | Trace the power fault, then repair or replace the faulty part |
| Discs won't read or eject | A worn or jammed disc drive | Repair or replace the disc drive |
| Joystick drift | Worn joystick modules in the controller | Replace the joystick modules and recalibrate |
| Controller won't charge | A worn charging port or a tired battery | Replace the port or the battery |

Stick drift, where your character or camera moves on its own, is one of the most common controller faults. It happens as the joystick modules wear, and it affects PlayStation DualSense, Xbox and Nintendo Joy-Con controllers alike.
Replacing the worn joystick modules fixes it properly, usually for much less than a new controller. We also repair controllers that won't charge, have sticky or dead buttons, or have been dropped.
Four ways to keep your console working
- Give it room to breathe
- Leave space around the vents, and don't shut the console in a closed cabinet while it's running.
- Take care with the HDMI cable
- Don't move the console with the cable plugged in, and avoid tight bends that pull on the port.
- Clear the dust regularly
- Dust blocks the vents and fan. A gentle clean of the vents every few months helps it run cooler.
- Install system updates
- Updates often fix stability problems, so install them before assuming a fault is in the hardware.

Console repair FAQs
How much does console repair cost in Manchester?
It depends on the console and the fault. An HDMI port replacement costs less than a power supply or board-level repair, for example. Diagnosis is free, and you'll get a fixed price first.
Do you repair Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles?
Yes. We repair Xbox Series X, Series S and Xbox One consoles, and the Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite, as well as PlayStation.
Can you fix controller stick drift?
Yes. We replace the worn joystick modules, which fixes drift properly on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch controllers.
How long does a console repair take?
Many repairs, such as HDMI ports and cleans, are done the same day when we have the part. We'll give you a timescale when we quote.
Will I lose my saved games?
Hardware repairs don't normally affect your saves, but it's worth turning on cloud saves or backing up to a USB drive beforehand if you can.
Do you collect consoles?
Yes, at no cost, from any Greater Manchester address. Just send the console, its power cable and any controllers with a fault.
