PC won't turn on? Check these first
A PC that seems dead sometimes comes back to life after one of these simple checks.
- Check the switch on the back
- Most desktop power supplies have their own switch next to the power cable. Make sure it is set to on.
- Try a different socket and cable
- Plug the PC straight into a wall socket rather than an extension lead, using a power cable you know works.
- Check the monitor cable
- On a PC with a graphics card, the monitor should plug into the graphics card, not the ports on the motherboard.
- Listen and look
- Fans spinning with no picture points to a different fault from complete silence, so let us know which you get.

Computer repair FAQs
How much does PC repair cost in Manchester?
It depends on the fault and the parts needed. Diagnosis is free, and you'll get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
Do you repair gaming PCs?
Yes. We fix gaming PCs that overheat, crash in games, show graphics glitches or won't start, and we can fit upgrades such as a new graphics card, SSD or extra memory.
Can you upgrade my PC instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. An SSD, more memory or a newer graphics card can transform an older PC. We check that your power supply and motherboard can support an upgrade before fitting it.
Will I lose my files?
Most repairs don't touch your files. If a drive is failing, or Windows needs reinstalling, we'll explain what's involved and talk you through backing up first.
Do you collect desktop computers?
Yes. We collect free from anywhere in Greater Manchester, and we just need the tower or all-in-one, plus its power cable.
